Most people know Shoreline as the city just north of Seattle. It's convenient, connected, and home to about 65,000 residents. But what many people don't realize is that Shoreline feels like three completely different worlds rolled into one. Within just a few miles, you can go from waterfront beaches to a bustling urban center and then find yourself surrounded by towering trees and forested trails.
Starting at the Water
We kicked things off at one of Shoreline's most iconic destinations: Richmond Beach Saltwater Park.
If you've spent much time around Puget Sound, you know many shorelines are rocky and lined with dramatic bluffs. But Richmond Beach offers something a little different—a beautiful sandy beach where you can actually kick off your shoes, build a sandcastle, and enjoy the waterfront.
Standing there with views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains in the distance, it's easy to understand why so many people are drawn to this part of Shoreline. It feels peaceful, scenic, and a little removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.
And no visit to Richmond Beach would be complete without a stop at Spin Alley, one of the last freestanding bowling alleys in the region. There's something nostalgic about places like this. It's a reminder that even as Shoreline grows and changes, it still has those local gems that give a community its personality.
The City Is Growing Up Fast
Just a short drive from the beach, the landscape changes completely.
As we headed toward Aurora Avenue, cranes filled the skyline, new apartment buildings stood where older structures once sat, and construction activity seemed to be happening everywhere you looked.
Shoreline is in the middle of a major transformation.
Over the last several years, thousands of new housing units have been added to accommodate the city's growing population. The arrival of Link Light Rail has been a huge part of that change, creating easier access to Seattle, Bellevue, and the surrounding region.
You can feel the energy when you're there.
Entire neighborhoods around the stations are evolving, bringing new housing, new businesses, and new opportunities. In many ways, Shoreline is becoming one of the most exciting growth stories in the Puget Sound region.
And if you haven't visited recently, trust me—you might not recognize it.
A Home That Represents Shoreline Living
One of the highlights of the episode was touring a home that perfectly captures why so many buyers are looking at Shoreline right now.
Located near 160th and Midvale, this charming two-bedroom home sits on a large 8,500-square-foot lot and offers something that's becoming increasingly rare in our market: affordability combined with convenience.

Whether you're looking to squeeze in some exercise, commute on two wheels, or simply enjoy a walk on a sunny day, the trail helps connect communities throughout Shoreline and gives residents another reason to get outside and enjoy where they live.
And Then Suddenly… You're in the Forest
One of the biggest surprises for many viewers will probably be the final stop on our tour.
Travel just a couple miles east and the scenery changes once again.
The busy streets and new development give way to rolling hills, dense evergreen forests, and peaceful walking trails. Here you'll find Hamlin Park, one of my favorite hidden gems in Shoreline.
The park feels like stepping into a Pacific Northwest fairy tale.
Towering trees line the trails, wildlife can appear when you least expect it, and every visit feels a little different. It's one of those places where you can leave your phone in your pocket, slow down, and simply enjoy being outdoors.
For a city located so close to Seattle, having access to spaces like this is incredibly special.
Why Shoreline Continues to Stand Out
By the end of the day, one thing became very clear: variety is Shoreline's superpower.
Few communities offer such an incredible mix of experiences in one place. You can spend the morning walking along the beach, grab lunch in a growing urban center, and finish your afternoon exploring wooded trails—all without leaving city limits.
Whether you're drawn to waterfront views, excited by a rapidly growing city, or looking for a neighborhood surrounded by nature, Shoreline has something to offer.
